Wyoming Food Bank of the Rockies

The Food Bank of the Rockies, or FBR, was established in the 70s’, previously Colorado Food Clearing House. It is an organization that prevents hunger. It started out collecting food from Safeway stores and distributing it. Today, FBR provides food supplies to more than 1,100 hunger-based programs. FBR’s Nutrition Network is a group of programs that focuses on the actual issue of hunger that affects people’s mental, physical and social growth. Programs include the Kids Café which serves nutritious meals to kids in some of the most impoverished areas. The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) provides food assistance to people in need through the distribution of the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture. The Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP) is a USDA supplemental food program that targets low-income pregnant and postpartum women with kids under the age of six.

Central Wyoming Rescue Mission

Central Wyoming Rescue Mission in Casper, Wyoming has been helping people for more than a decade. CWRM is a non-profit organization with a mission to house, feed and further help the needy. It has facility that consist of the Men’s New Life Center which was designed to meet the needs of homeless men providing counseling and support, and Women’s Transformation Center which serves as a safe refuge for women and children whose options may be the streets, or abusive domestic relationships. CWRM also operates thrift store that offers used clothing and household goods for low-income or needy families at reasonable prices. It appreciates car donations and accepts them directly from donors — takings would help keep Central Wyoming Rescue Mission’s programs actively serving the community.

City Kids Wilderness Project

Randy Kidder Luskey established the City Kids Wilderness Project, Inc. (City Kids) in 1996. City Kids is a non-profit organization that provides life experiences for underserved and at-risk children to strengthen self-concept, increase academic achievement, increase personal motivation & initiative, develop interpersonal skills & leadership ability, and foster an appreciation of environment. City Kids provides a summer camp on a 62-acre ranch with a lodge and log cabins which is located at the heart of the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem. Camp activities include horseback riding, backpacking and hiking in National Parks and Forests, swimming, kayaking, canoeing, white water rafting, hot springs, rock climbing, environmental education, community and cultural events, and many others. It accepts car donations directly from donors. Proceeds go towards make better kids for tomorrow as well as maintain all other related programs.
