The Vietnam Veterans of America is an organization chartered by Congress. It is dedicated to supporting America’s Vietnam War-era Veterans and their families. It has done so for over three decades. The VVA was founded on the principle “Never again will one generation of veterans abandon another”. It strives to change the public’s perception of Vietnam veterans, and seeks full access quality health care for them. Furthermore, the VVA is committed to identifying all of the disabling injuries and illnesses sustained during military service, so as to help seek relevant health care. The VVA allows for vehicle donations through its car donation program. It accepts vehicle donations in numerous cities, these include Gulfport, Hattiesburg and Jackson. Proceeds go towards implementing many programs that serve Vietnam vets. It would also help keep alive many causes the organization represents.
Make-A-Wish Foundation is a not for profit organization that grants the wishes of seriously ill children. It is an association of over 25,000 volunteers, which serve as wish granters and fundraisers in order to grant a little child’s wish. Make-A-Wish Foundation (Mississippi Chapter) is part of the national Make-A-Wish Foundation. Till date, Make-A-Wish has granted over 300,000 wishes in the United States, 2,000 wishes in Mississippi. The foundation grants children’s wishes regardless of their economical background, only age and medical condition is taken into consideration.
