Unchained Talent is a non-profit organization focused on performing arts and mentoring program for youth development. The organization is established to keep youth active and engaged in their lives and education. The humble beginnings of the organization started on 2004 when the Founder and Executive Director Christina Youngston began Unchained Talent with 10 students focusing on theatre and acting. Unchained Talent works with urban schools to provide students with performing arts opportunities. The foundation teaches youth leadership, advocacy and life skills. These skills and training programs are very important for the youth to become proactive agents of the society. Unchained Talent is proud to have successful students. The alumni of the organization are now studying in the universities. Unchained Talent was able to develop the self-confidence and assertiveness of its beneficiaries.  It is undeniable that the organization was able to help the youth alumni become determined in pursuing their career. Donations can be direct or indirect. Indirect donations include shopping while giving some of the money for the foundation. Unchained Talent also accepts car donations as well.

Jewish Social Service Agency

Jewish Social Service Agency (JSSA) is an organization dedicated to assisting people facing emotional, physical, or mental difficulties. It has served the elderly, children, individuals and families, regardless of religion, race or ethnicity for over 118 years. JSSA’s services include counseling, providing educational and employment opportunities, in-home support, hospice and nursing care, among others. It provides continuing education courses and trainings for mental health professionals and educators at its JSSA Training Institute. Its Growth and Learning Programs allow professionals to help children with developmental problems, as well as provide memory-coaching workshop to older adults. The organization also offers counseling on family/parenting, separation & divorce, and administers programs for the deaf and hard of hearing. It accepts car donations directly from supporters. Proceeds go towards JSSA’s many programs which provides for members of the community at large.

Chesapeake Shakespeare Company keeps alive the great works of Shakespeare through performances. Its goal is to find and collaborate with artists in order to build long lasting strong relationships that brighten the audience. The Dwelling Place

The Dwelling Place, Inc operates a transitional housing program that helps homeless families to return to self-sufficiency. It provides a fully furnished subsidized apartment that families can reside in for up to two years while helping them to gain new life skills. Families contribute 30% of their adjusted income towards the rent, and they are allowed to take the furnishings when they leave. The program aims at keeping families together, which in turn allows them to address the issues that led to homelessness. In addition, Dwelling Place offers vital life skills, these include, vocational training, financial literacy, communication, parenting, among others. Children also receive assistance with tutoring and homework, as well as social skills. The program is holistic. It is directed towards all members of the relevant family.

Fisher House Foundation

The Fisher House Foundation provides free housing to families of visiting active military members. The foundation donates houses known as “Comfort Homes”. These homes enable the visiting spouse or family to stay close by, especially in times of illness, disease or injury. There is a Fisher House near every Military Medical Center. Every Fisher House was designed to provide the comforts of home in a very supporting environment. There is no charge to stay at the Fisher House. It reimburses each branch of the armed forces for the Fisher House it operates through private donations. Besides providing comfortable homes, the foundation also offers scholarships to military children. Scholarships are also awarded to military spouses. Although it works in collaboration with the government, it is mostly funded by private donations.
