When a patient is released from the hospital, Quest to Walk’s certified SCI Recovery Specialists are waiting to offer a helping hand to each individual. In brief, it is a Center that is dedicated to helping those with spinal cord injuries improve their quality of life through motivation and support. The Recovery Center also offers a home program designed for patients that do not live near the center. TARC

Founded in 1954, TARC is an organization that provides assistance to people with developmental disabilities. TARC secures funds for its activities through the foundation which the community actively partakes in. Its vision is to exceed the needs of those with developmental disabilities. TARC’s programs include Children’s Services that serve children of up to 3 years of age as well as the Senior Services which serves those above 55 years of age. Other programs include the Day Services for those who are 16 years of age and above. This program allows all age groups to learn how to cope with developmental disabilities. Additionally, TARC provides employment opportunities through its Employment Services. TARC accepts car donations through a partnership with Vehicles for Charity. All proceeds go towards the relevant programs it administers.

Unbound

Unbound serves millions of children and aged in over 22 countries. It aims to improve the lives of the poor and underserved through individual sponsorships. Unbound’s sponsorship programs allow a sponsor to commit to help a person in need. A commitment is sufficient to provide food, education, clothing and medical care to a very needing family. Unbound receives and mobilizes donations so as to provide the initial capital for small business micro loans, train persons in farming, fishing, and to help buy livestock, seedlings, fishing equipment and farm implements. Its Scholarship Program helps deserving youth committed to helping their communities pursue higher education. It also covers the tuition of such student. Kansas City Retired Greyhounds as Pets

Established in 1990, Kansas City Retired Greyhounds as Pets (KCREGAP) is an organization that has helped many greyhounds find a home. Greyhounds available for adoption are usually featured on their website, and till date, it has placed over 5,000 greyhounds in homes across Kansas City. KCREGAP is a 501(c)(3) organization whose sole purpose is to house retired greyhound racing dogs. KCREGAP accepts all vehicle donations including boats, trucks, RV’s, jet skis, cars, and snowmobiles. It participates in Donation Line LLC’s car donation program. Donors who want to support may call Donation Line directly. Proceeds from donated vehicles help to pay for Greyhounds’ medical bills. It further makes sure that all dogs are spayed and neutered. Donations also help to treat dogs that come in with broken legs, injured tails, and wounds. Furthermore, it helps to keep the program up and running.

Medical Missions Foundation

Medical Missions Foundation (MMF) is chiefly engaged in providing financial and medical resources to deprived children of third world and developing countries. Founded by Drs. Tony and Luz Racela in 1996, MMF made its debut mission to the Philippines in ’96, 16 volunteers examined 50 children and performed over 115 surgeries. MMF adheres to the notion that medicine is a powerful tool, when used properly, it will change the lives of deprived children. MMF strives to “secure the future through today’s youth”. In addition to the direct medical care it offers, MMF works to ensure the accessibility of ongoing medical care by training local practitioners and by securing supplies and equipment for the newly trained. Its goal is to provide surgical and medical care to children of poor nations in order to enhance each child’s opportunity for an improved life.

Miles of Smiles Therapeutic Horsemanship

Miles of Smiles is a non-profit organization that offers mentally, physically, or emotionally disabled children, youth, and adults the advantage of therapeutic horseback riding. It is a program that was designed to boost all aspects of individual’s well being. Miles of Smiles unites recreational horseback riding with other therapeutic activities to enhance their clients’ physical and mental welfare. It offers three sessions per year, each session allows riding classes twice a week, plus a horse vaulting class once a week. Sessions meet in spring, summer, and fall. Although a private organization, it is part of North American Riding for the Handicapped Association (NARHA). All instructors must be NARHA certified, and NARHA safety standards must be followed. It is an organization that is supported by volunteers and private donations.
