Freedom Service Dogs

Freedom Service Dogs provides disabled people with service dogs. These trained dogs bring freedom and security to their owners. Dogs are rescued from animal shelters and other rescue organizations. Upon being trained, dogs perform tasks for their human companions, allowing them to maintain their independence and freedom of movement. Although different from seeing-eye dogs for the blind, some service dogs are street-certified and remain with their owners at all times. Dogs are trained humanely, by the means of motivational rewards. Training may take from six months to two years depending on the complexity of the skills being taught. Dogs are carefully assessed and matched with a disabled owner after completion of the program. The organization participates in Vehicle Donation to Any Charity (V-DAC), Donate for Charity Inc, and the Cars 4 Causes donation program.

Stevens Johnson Syndrome Foundation

The Stevens Johnson Syndrome Foundation (Julie Foundation For Allergic Drug Reactions) was founded in 1995 to help people deal with their skin reactions to certain drugs. This reaction is known as the Steven Johnson Syndrome. The organization is a not for profit, and was further named after Julie, a baby that was afflicted by the syndrome. She miraculously survived and regained the function of her vision, lungs and hearing. Because not all deaths are reported to the FDA, many drugs that cause adverse reactions stay in the market and remain a danger to everyone. The Stevens Johnson Syndrome Foundation works to document and help identify these drugs. It does so by compiling and distributing valuable information to sufferers, doctors, as well as the general public. It participates in the Donate For Charity vehicle program.
